U.S. Treasury yields fall as traders monitor possible Iran war deal

U.S. Treasury yields continued to fall Wednesday as investors weighed the potential impact of a deal to unlock the Strait of Hormuz on the American economy and inflation trajectory. The 10-year Treasury yield slipped more than one basis point to 4.6086%, while the 30-year yield, more sensitive to geopolitical risks, dropped two basis points to 5.1617%. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CNBC that a deal to allow commercial ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz could be reached this week, sending U.S. crude oil prices tumbling nearly 6% on Tuesday. On Wednesday, oil prices edged higher with WTI crude at $76.21 per barrel and Brent at $80.20.
