ExxonMobil reported a net profit of $14.5 billion in the second quarter, its highest in four years, while Chevron posted its best quarterly profits in six years. The US president, who himself launched the conflict with Iran in February, urged the companies to return some of their profits to the public and lower pump prices, currently hovering around $4.10 per gallon in the United States. On August 3, crude oil prices fell approximately 7%, with Brent dropping to $83.77 per barrel after Trump postponed a planned attack on Iran.
