Thailand SEC clears the way for local spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs

Thailand’s SEC finalized on October 8, 2026 a regulatory framework for spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand. These funds must be passively managed, hold at least 80% of their net exposure to a single asset (Bitcoin or Ether), and assets must be held by SEC-licensed custodians. Retail investors must complete education and sign a risk acknowledgment before trading, and margin lending is prohibited. No products or issuers have been approved yet; asset managers must first register funds and obtain product approval.
