A Bitcoin holder lost 80 BTC, worth $5.2 million, after transferring funds to a Ledger hardware wallet purchased from CryptoBilis, a reseller operating in Southeast Asia. Ledger confirmed on October 9, 2026 that an investigation is underway regarding fund losses connected to this reseller. On-chain analysts have estimated total damages between $72 million and over $87 million, with $17.7 million in BTC and $29 million in ETH equivalents tracked to wallets linked to the thefts. The company is advising anyone who bought a Ledger from CryptoBilis in the past 90 days not to initialize the device and to move funds to a new wallet with a different seed phrase. So far, no issues have been reported with Ledger devices purchased through official channels.
