Tether and Shiga announced on September 28 a collaboration to launch self-custodial financial services across Africa and the Gulf Cooperation Council. The products, built on Tether’s open-source Wallet Development Kit, will support USDT, Bitcoin and Tether Gold. Two offerings are planned: ENTA for individuals and Pulse for banks and fintech companies. Remittances are a key target market, with the average cost of sending money to Sub-Saharan Africa reaching 8.46% according to World Bank data. Shiga is awaiting a Digital Asset Intermediary licence in Nigeria.
