Starknet launches Shadow Accounts to keep DeFi wallets unlinkable

Share

Starknet and StarkWare unveiled Shadow Accounts on October 13, 2026, a privacy feature built within the STRK20 framework. This technology enables users to have distinct pseudonymous addresses for each DeFi application, with no traceable link back to their main wallet on-chain. The system relies on a smart contract called ShadowAccountAnonymizer to break the connection between the shadow address and the primary wallet. Balances and transactions remain visible on-chain, but the association with the main wallet is hidden. A demo integration with Vesu Prime’s vSTRK vault was planned for the day after launch, while Starknet Wallet API v0.10.4 and starknet.js v10.8.0 allow developers to integrate the feature without rebuilding their applications.
