A public jailbreak for the PS5, dubbed Relapse, works on firmware 7.00 through 13.60 and requires only a DNS change to run. Published on GitHub under an MIT license, it allows users to load homebrew applications and game backups through an ELF loader. The exploit is not persistent and must be rerun after every console restart. This release comes weeks after Sony told a federal court on August 21 that consumers do not actually own the digital games they purchase. Consoles updated to firmware 14.00, released on September 16, are not compatible with Relapse.
