Jonathan Spalletta, an American collector, has been indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice for exploiting two vulnerabilities in the smart contracts of decentralized exchange Uranium Finance in April 2021. The first hack on April 8 allegedly netted approximately $1.4 million, while the second on April 28 through 26 liquidity pools allegedly resulted in approximately $53.3 million in losses. The funds were allegedly laundered through Tornado Cash before being used to purchase first-edition Pokémon cards, a Black Lotus Magic: The Gathering card worth approximately $500,000, and other rare collectibles. On February 24, 2025, authorities seized approximately $31 million in cryptocurrency, and the defendant surrendered on March 30, 2026, when the indictment was unsealed.
