OpenAI published an open letter signed by more than 100 companies, including Anthropic, Microsoft, Google, AWS, CrowdStrike, Cloudflare, and Palo Alto Networks, warning that AI-enabled cyberattacks will surge dramatically in the coming months. Chinese state-affiliated groups have already doubled their attack volume after adopting DeepSeek and other open-source models. According to Anthropic, the share of medium-risk or higher attackers rose from 33% to 56% within a year. North Korea’s Kimsuky unit is also testing local AI tools for espionage purposes. Crypto hacks reached 201 in the first half of 2026, up from 83 a year earlier.
