Open Standard, the governance entity behind the OUSD stablecoin, will charge 0.001% of payment volume, capped at $0.01 per transaction. Unlike major stablecoin issuers such as Tether and Circle, which retain most of the interest generated by their reserves, Open Standard will distribute the reserve yield to partners. Partners holding at least $50 million in OUSD can earn equity based on their holdings and payment flows, with ownership capped at 5% each. OUSD launched on September 30, 2026 across Ethereum, Solana, Base and Tempo, with Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, Coinbase and Shopify among the partners that committed more than $1 billion in launch liquidity. The network has since grown to more than 200 members, while the one-cent fee cap and high equity eligibility threshold favor large institutions and require Open Standard to process a high volume of transactions.
