Privacy coins are the only sector in positive territory, up 213% since Bitcoin hit its record high of $126,199 on October 6 on Binance. Bitcoin itself remains 36% below its all-time high, and the median coin in the top 200 has lost 58% since that date. The group now has a market cap of $33.6 billion, up from $7.1 billion a year ago, driven notably by Zcash which surged 687% to reach a $19.9 billion valuation. Zcash and Monero together account for approximately 90% of the sector’s value, meaning the sector’s performance rests essentially on these two assets.
