Nvidia is reportedly in talks to acquire the open-source AI platform Hugging Face for approximately $13 billion, nearly triple the company’s $4.5 billion valuation during a 2023 funding round. The transaction would represent an 86-fold multiple on Hugging Face’s annualized revenue, which reached approximately $150 million in 2025. The platform hosts over 2 million public models, more than 500,000 datasets, and serves around 13 million users. Founded in 2016 by three French entrepreneurs, the company maintains a significant engineering presence in Paris, raising questions about technological sovereignty in Europe. This acquisition would be Nvidia’s largest ever, dwarfing its previous record $7 billion purchase of Mellanox in 2020.
