Nvidia Invests $3.5 Billion in MediaTek to Expand Beyond GPUs

Nvidia invested $3.5 billion in MediaTek by purchasing convertible bonds, its largest direct investment outside the United States, covering roughly 90% of MediaTek’s record $3.9 billion offshore bond offering. Alphabet, Google’s parent company, also participated in the deal without disclosing the amount of its investment. MediaTek will adopt Nvidia’s NVLink Fusion platform and expects its AI chip business to exceed $2 billion in revenue this year, with an addressable market of $80 billion by 2027. MediaTek’s first AI accelerator ASIC is scheduled to enter mass production in the fourth quarter of 2026.
