North Korean Hackers Linked to $388M Bitget Crypto Exchange Theft: CEO

North Korean hackers stole nearly $388 million in digital assets from crypto exchange Bitget, a figure exceeding the $350 million initially reported by CEO Gracy Chen. The Seychelles-based exchange stated that the stolen assets primarily consisted of ethereum, tron, and the USDT stablecoin. Bitget, the world’s sixth-largest crypto platform with over $1 billion in daily trading volume, froze withdrawals after detecting unauthorized transactions from its hot wallets. According to on-chain analysis and IP behavior patterns, the attack method closely matches known patterns associated with North Korean hacker groups including Lazarus. The company stated that its goal is to achieve a complete recovery as soon as possible.
