Nokia and Nvidia are partnering with nearly twenty telecom operators to embed artificial intelligence directly into signal processing within radio access networks. Testing has increased uplink throughput by 10 to 15%, while the partners target a 50% improvement in spectrum efficiency by 2027 and a 100% gain by 2028. T-Mobile made the first live AI-RAN call at a commercial cell site in Bellevue, Washington, using Nokia Massive MIMO radios and Nvidia ARC servers. Commercial deployments are expected from 2027, with BT, Deutsche Telekom and SoftBank among the operators preparing pilots. The partnership follows Nvidia’s $1 billion equity investment in Nokia on October 28, 2025, resulting in a 2.9% stake.
