Cardano Foundation joins five other blockchain groups urging SEC to lock in digital commodity definition

Share

Six organizations, including the Cardano Foundation, asked the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to include a digital commodity definition in the binding text of the proposed Regulation Crypto Assets. The joint letter was filed on October 20, 2026, the final day of the public comment period. The signatories are Aptos Labs, Ava Labs, Cardano Foundation, Chainlink Labs, Hedera, and Stellar Development Foundation, representing the projects behind APT, AVAX, ADA, LINK, HBAR, and XLM. They argue that a definition included in the rule itself would provide developers and token issuers with greater legal certainty than one contained in administrative guidance. The initiative does not change ADA’s current legal status, and the SEC is not required to adopt the proposed language.
