A CryptoQuant report published October 16, 2026, reveals that new Bitcoin whales now hold $78.61 billion in realized cap, representing 33.06% of the total whale realized cap. This share has nearly doubled from approximately 18% earlier in 2026, driven by continuous inflows since September. New whales, defined as addresses holding over 1,000 BTC with UTXOs younger than 155 days, saw their average cost basis recover to approximately $77,000 from a low of $68,000 in late August. Bitcoin was trading around $82,134 at that date, roughly 6.7% above this cohort’s cost basis. The shift reflects a broader trend of institutional and ETF-driven inflows into the Bitcoin ecosystem.
