Mistral and HUMAIN Are Building ‘Sovereign AI’ in Saudi Arabia

Share

Mistral, the Paris-based open-weights AI laboratory, and HUMAIN, the AI company owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, announced a strategic collaboration valued at hundreds of millions of euros to build sovereign AI infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and the wider region. The partnership covers in-region inference, open models, and frontier Arabic-language models, with first deliverables in cybersecurity and voice. Mistral will explore running workloads on HUMAIN’s Saudi data-center capacity instead of relying solely on European and American infrastructure. HUMAIN already brings massive commitments: an NVIDIA partnership for up to 600,000 AI systems, an xAI data center facility exceeding 500 MW, and an AMD-Cisco joint venture targeting up to 1 GW of AI infrastructure by 2030.
