German financial regulator BaFin rejected the MiCA authorization application filed by Futurum Bank AG, the operator of the Bitcoin.de platform with over 1.1 million users. Trading and custody activities have been suspended since June 12, while cryptocurrency withdrawals remain possible. In response to this rejection, Bitcoin.de plans to rebuild its operational model by relying on licensed German partners to handle digital asset trading and custody. The platform will retain its app, brand and customer interface, but must finalize agreements with regulated partners before the prolonged suspension causes user attrition.
