MetaMask announced Monday new scam protections for its mobile app and browser extension. These features include alerts for lookalike addresses, investment and romance scams, and transfers to new recipients. A feature called Added Protection automatically reverts transactions that do not match their preview, launching first on the browser extension before coming to mobile. MetaMask uses artificial intelligence through its partner Blockaid to analyze content and detect threats in real time. The new protections come as U.S. authorities seized more than $25 million in cryptocurrency linked to scams in July, and the Secret Service froze $52.8 million linked to Xinbi Guarantee in August.
