This signing is not intended as a Rodri replacement, as the Spanish midfielder is leaving after seven seasons to join Barcelona for £65.4 million. The Bouaddi fee fits within City’s broader midfield rebuild, having also lost Tijjani Reijnders in the same transfer window. The club also signed Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for a club-record £116 million this summer, and are tracking Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez, valued at approximately £120 million.
