Malaysian customs authorities seized 30 servers equipped with advanced artificial intelligence chips worth about 50 million ringgit, or $12.2 million. The shipment was intercepted on October 15 during an inspection in the free trade zone of the country’s main airport. The servers, which came from an Asian country, were falsely declared as electrical components to evade detection before being re-exported without the required permit. Authorities believe a syndicate is using Malaysia as a transit hub to bypass restrictions on sensitive technology and is attempting to reroute the chips to another Asian country, while the investigation remains ongoing.
