Infineon Technologies and Nvidia announced a collaboration to develop power-conversion products for artificial intelligence data centers. The project is based on a centralized 800-volt high-voltage direct-current architecture that moves power conversion closer to GPUs and targets efficiency of up to approximately 98% per conversion stage. Rack power demand, currently around 120 kW, is expected to exceed 500 kW and could reach 1 MW by around 2030. Infineon also joined Nvidia’s MGX ecosystem, while an exploration with Skeleton Technologies focuses on solid-state transformers and gallium nitride-based supercapacitors.
