James Manyika, Google’s senior vice president overseeing research and technology, stated on October 2, 2026 that AI risks are real and require regulation. Google, OpenAI and Nvidia are among the major tech firms that signed a voluntary accord aimed at strengthening safety practices, but this agreement carries no legal enforcement mechanisms.
