Global broad money supply reached a record $150 trillion in June 2026, marking a $10.7 trillion year-over-year increase or 7.7% annual growth. China is the largest contributor at $52.6 trillion, representing 35% of the global total, followed by the United States at $23.2 trillion (15.4%) and the European Union at $22.8 trillion (15.2%). This represents nearly a sixfold increase from the $26 trillion recorded in 2000, with a compound annual growth rate of approximately 6.9%. The acceleration of monetary growth since April 2025, peaking at 11.9% in February 2026, has raised growing concerns among economists as excess cash growth is now outpacing nominal GDP in a significant number of economies.
