Ferencváros, the reigning Hungarian champions, were drawn on 28 August 2026 to face Juventus, AC Milan, Celtic, and Hoffenheim during the 2026/27 UEFA Europa League league phase. The Budapest club secured qualification by defeating Trabzonspor 5-0 on aggregate in the play-off round, having also overcome Vojvodina, Twente, and Górnik Zabrze in earlier qualifying stages. The new competition format features 36 teams each playing eight matches, four at home and four away. The top eight teams advance directly to the knockout stages, with the rest entering a playoff bracket. Hoffenheim is backed by long-term investment from SAP co-founder Dietmar Hopp.
