The EU’s MiCA regulation, fully implemented at the end of 2024, has acted as a quality filter, granting legitimacy to compliant issuers with banks and payment processors. Circle’s EURC commands the market with roughly 41% share (~$430 million), followed by Société Générale’s EURCV ($137.8 million) and Banking Circle’s EURI ($51.1 million). Circle has called on the EU to revise MiCA’s market-cap thresholds, warning they could structurally limit how large euro stablecoins can grow.
