A claims broker linked to FTX, Thomas Braziel, is now soliciting victims of the Coldcard bitcoin wallet hack to join a lawsuit. Approximately 7,300 Coldcard addresses have been compromised since July 30, with 1,596 BTC stolen, exceeding $100 million. Braziel, who now runs distressed claims company 117 Partners, was removed as receiver of Fund.com by a Delaware court for fabricating financial documents. He was ordered to repay $1,945,063 but faced no criminal charges. Coldcard’s manufacturer, Coinkite, a bootstrapped Toronto company, routes disputes into mandatory arbitration under Ontario’s Arbitration Act, which significantly complicates any lawsuit against the company.
