Anthropic has launched Claude Sonnet 5.5, a model that generates output more than 30% faster than Sonnet 5 while costing up to 30% less per task due to reduced token usage. The model outperforms Opus 5.5 on certain tests like Terminal-Bench 4.0 with a score of 70.6% versus 66.4%, and approaches its performance on other intellectual work evaluations. The most significant improvements are in coding, where Sonnet 5.5 gained roughly 10 points on FrontierCode compared to Sonnet 5. It is the first Sonnet model to include cybersecurity protections similar to Anthropic’s high-end models. The model is available on Anthropic’s platforms as well as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.
