Circle announced on October 23 that Gateway now supports the wrapped Bitcoin token cirBTC and the euro stablecoin EURC alongside USDC. Deposits are held in noncustodial GatewayWallet escrow contracts before the same asset is minted on a supported destination network, with cross-chain access advertised at less than 500 milliseconds once a balance has been established. Each asset retains a separate balance, however, and EURC cannot be used to withdraw cirBTC or automatically convert euros into dollars. Support differs by network: cirBTC is available on Arc and Ethereum, while EURC is supported on Arc, Avalanche, Base, Ethereum, Solana and World Chain. Circle is waiving Gateway fees for cirBTC and EURC on Arc at launch, but nanopayments involving these assets remain limited to networks compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine.
