Circle and Tether froze a wallet containing approximately 99,990 USDC and 218,023 USDT (around $318,000) linked to the Bitget exchange hack. Circle acted at 05:00 UTC Friday, followed by Tether several hours later via its multisig wallet. Around 170 ETH remained untouched as issuers cannot freeze Ethereum itself, and other attacker-linked addresses still hold over 63,000 ETH beyond reach. The total breach is estimated at roughly $387 million, with North Korea’s Lazarus Group suspected of responsibility. Bitget said its user protection fund holding over $464 million would cover losses.
