China’s crypto rollout could trigger Bitcoin supercycle, says Solana Company CEO

Joseph Chee, CEO of Solana Company, said on October 6, 2026 on CNBC’s Squawk Box Asia that if China reopens crypto trading, it could trigger a new supercycle for Bitcoin. He specified that this scenario depends on effective risk management and careful handling of the opening by Beijing. Chee noted that Beijing is using Hong Kong as a testing ground for digital asset adoption before implementing policies on the mainland. Since the September 2021 crackdown, Hong Kong has been developing licensing frameworks for stablecoin issuers and launching pilot projects for tokenizing real-world assets. The 2021-era restrictions on the mainland remain in place, and investors should monitor Hong Kong’s regulatory development as a signal for potential mainland policy changes.
