Celestia announced that its Fibre data-availability system sustained a throughput of 3.07 terabits per second during an end-to-end benchmark across 120 validators. The test covered encoding of new data blobs, their distribution and storage, validator signature collection and onchain commitment submission. The company estimates this raw throughput could support nearly two billion transactions per second under the benchmark assumptions. However, this figure represents an experimental benchmark and not the actual traffic currently processed by the mainnet. Observers note that real-world conditions such as latency, adversarial conditions and geographic distribution could affect performance compared to this controlled environment test.
