Cat Wu, the former Head of Product for Claude Code and Cowork at Anthropic, is joining OpenAI to lead product management for its core products group. She announced the transition on X on November 5, 2026, after leaving Anthropic on October 30. She says she wants to help build reliable AI agents capable of completing multistep tasks autonomously, and highlighted that OpenAI has more than one billion users. Wu joined Anthropic in August 2024 and worked closely with Boris Cherny on Claude Code, which grew from an internal tool into a major revenue driver. Her departure follows those of Thariq Shihipar and Anthony Morris and comes just weeks before Anthropic’s planned IPO.
