Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced on October 14, 2026 the disruption of 241 fraudulent domains and the seizure of 112 cloud servers linked to a crypto investment scam targeting Russian-speaking individuals. This three-year operation, conducted by the office’s Virtual Currency Unit with FBI assistance, represents one of the largest cyber enforcement efforts ever carried out by a local prosecutor’s office. Victims were lured through Russian-language Facebook ads redirecting to fake investment platforms, then contacted by fake advisors pushing them to transfer digital assets. Losses amount to millions of dollars within Brooklyn’s Russian-speaking community and tens of millions across the broader US population. No arrests or named suspects have been announced at this stage.
