Brazilian police seize $1.7M in crypto from phishing ring’s wallets

The Civil Police of Santa Catarina seized $1,708,534 in cryptoassets during Operation ClickFix on September 10, 2026. The funds, worth approximately 8.78 million reais, included Bitcoin, Ethereum, TRON and Tether recovered from self-custody wallets. Investigators used Chainalysis blockchain tracing tools to track 13 separate transactions that moved the assets to an institutional account on Brazilian exchange Foxbit. The operation also led to two arrests, the seizure of a Corvette worth over 1.5 million reais and court-ordered bank account freezes totaling 93 million reais. The network allegedly used the ClickFix social engineering technique to take control of victims’ devices and steal their credentials.
