Binance and Polymarket have proposed a hard fork of the Polygon network to recover approximately 70.49 million POL tokens, valued at around $6.8 million, stolen in two separate security incidents. The proposal covers 23.86 million POL, worth $2.31 million, linked to the Polymarket hack, and 46.63 million POL, valued at about $4.51 million, held in an address linked to the Binance hack. Polygon block producers have already frozen the stolen tokens, but these temporary restrictions cannot return the funds to their owners. The hard fork would transfer them to verified recovery wallets without changing POL’s total supply, pending governance approval and testing on Polygon’s Amoy testnet. A discussion is scheduled for November 5, with no confirmed date yet for the mainnet hard fork.
