After almost eighteen months, Berkshire Hathaway shares have erased all the losses triggered by Warren Buffett’s announcement that he would step down as chief executive at the end of 2025 and have reached new closing records. Class A shares hit $820,500 and Class B shares $546.97, following declines of 14.3% and nearly 15% at their August 2025 lows and an 18% rebound. In October, the B shares gained nearly 9%, while the S&P 500 fell 0.4% and the NYSE Fang+ index dropped 4.8%, as investors rotated toward defensive stocks. Berkshire has more than $350 billion in cash, generates about $50 billion in annual after-tax earnings and holds a $34 billion position in Alphabet, while chief executive Greg Abel sees an opportunity in supplying power to data centers.
