Apple has unveiled its new Mac Studio desktop workstation featuring M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips. The starting price is $2,499 with shipping beginning September 22, 2026, while the 512GB memory option is expected in late October. The M5 Max configuration features an 18-core CPU and 40-core GPU, delivering up to 2.5 times faster CPU and 4.9 times faster GPU performance compared to the M1 Max. The M5 Ultra, which combines two M5 Max chips through Apple’s UltraFusion architecture, offers a 36-core CPU, 80-core GPU, and 1.2TB/s memory bandwidth. The systems support up to eight external displays and 33 concurrent 8K ProRes 422 video streams.
