AMD surges nearly 300%, crosses $1 trillion market cap for the first time

Advanced Micro Devices surpassed the 1 trillion dollar market capitalization threshold on September 21, 2026, becoming the fourth US semiconductor company to reach this valuation. The shares hit an intraday high of approximately $616 before closing around $613, representing roughly a 10% single-day surge. AMD’s stock climbed 180% to 187% year-to-date in 2026, significantly outperforming Nvidia’s 21% to 23% return over the same period. Second quarter 2026 results showed total revenue of $11.54 billion, up 50% year-over-year, with data-center revenue surging 107% to $6.7 billion. Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI and Anthropic are among the key customers deploying AMD’s EPYC and Instinct chips for AI training and inference workloads.
