According to Epoch AI, Huawei’s Horinger data center in Inner Mongolia has about 81,000 H100-equivalent units, compared with 1,112,000 at xAI’s Colossus 2 campus in Memphis. Horinger consumes 170 MW of IT power, while Colossus 2 uses 946 MW, giving the latter roughly thirteen times more computing capacity. The two sites rely on different technologies: Horinger mainly uses Huawei’s Ascend 910B and 910C accelerators, while Colossus 2 deploys Nvidia’s GB200 and GB300 Blackwell chips. Epoch AI projects that Horinger could reach about 141,000 H100-equivalent units, compared with 1,824,000 for Colossus 2, leaving the relative gap at roughly 7.7%.
