Moscow Exchange plans to launch trading in Bitcoin, Ether and USDT on December 1, creating what it describes as Russia’s first organized cryptocurrency market. Transactions will use its existing stock-market infrastructure and be cleared through the National Clearing Center, with trading hours from 6:50 a.m. to 11:50 p.m. Moscow time. The platform will initially support same-day and next-day settlement, as well as swap transactions. Non-qualified investors will have to pass a test and will be limited to annual purchases of 300,000 rubles per broker. The launch follows the entry into force on September 1 of Russia’s cryptocurrency law, which permits regulated trading while maintaining a ban on cryptocurrency payments.
