Mercado Bitcoin suspended deposits and withdrawals on Monday after detecting a security incident in one of its systems. The exchange said customers lost no money and no data was leaked. Blockchain security firm Hypernative estimated that more than $40 million in suspicious transfers may have been linked to the incident, a figure Mercado Bitcoin has not confirmed. Tether froze more than 4.5 million USDT connected to the case, while the exchange has not said when deposits and withdrawals will resume.
