UnitedHealth Group, one of the world’s largest health insurers, is entering a turnaround after withdrawing its earnings guidance in May 2025. The return of Stephen Hemsley as CEO, who led the company from 2006 to 2017, and his personal purchase of $25 million worth of shares reinforce confidence in the new strategy. In the third quarter, the medical care ratio fell to 88.4%, from 89.9% a year earlier, adjusted earnings reached $4.69 per share, and full-year guidance was raised to at least $20.50 per share. The company plans to invest nearly $1.5 billion in technology and artificial intelligence in 2026 and targets annual earnings growth of 13% to 16%, while its shares have risen approximately 27% year to date.
