Binance suffered a roughly $6.3 billion hack, with nearly $3 billion frozen, while Bitcoin fell to $76,350 before recovering above $78,000. The thief transferred 18,270 BTC worth about $1.42 billion to several addresses, while Tether and Circle froze $2.2 billion in stablecoins. Following the $1.5 billion Bybit theft in early 2025, attributed to the Pyongyang-linked Lazarus Group, Bitcoin reached a new record in less than three months, reinforcing comparisons with its reactions to the Mt. Gox, Bitfinex, Coincheck, Binance and FTX crises.
