Coinbase denied any breach of its own systems after an incident involving Amplitude, its data analytics vendor, while confirming that contact information for some customers was exposed. According to SlowMist, more than 70,000 accounts may be affected, but Coinbase has not specified the exact number of customers involved or the compromised fields. The cryptocurrency platform said funds were not affected, notified affected customers and regulators, and reported no unauthorized access to its infrastructure. The leak came 17 months after outsourced Indian customer support agents sold the data of nearly 70,000 Coinbase clients, an episode that resulted in estimated compensation of between $180 million and $400 million. On the same day, Bithumb reported an internal intrusion and Daishin Securities disclosed the theft of data affecting 38,490 clients.
