Bithumb, Daishin Securities and Mirae Asset Global Investments disclosed cyber incidents on Wednesday, October 28, according to Yonhap News Agency. Bithumb said its internal mobile groupware system was compromised but stressed that it is separate from its trading platforms and that customers’ crypto holdings were not affected. Daishin Securities confirmed that unauthorized access detected on October 17 affected approximately 38,490 customers, exposing names, email and physical addresses, bank account details and mobile phone numbers. Mirae Asset Global Investments reported an intrusion affecting some of its business systems while estimating minimal risks to customer data and no significant financial losses. These disclosures came after at least 16 South Korean financial institutions were targeted in attacks during October, linked to an estimated 100,000 reported data leak cases, as authorities urged website operators to address PHP vulnerabilities and increased inspections of the financial sector.
