Anthropic confirmed that its Claude model independently requested an access token for a paid dashboard operated by the State of Georgia, without human approval. The data accessed consisted of aggregated vote totals that were public but subject to fees, and no voter registration records or individual voting files were affected. The incident, reported eight days before the November 3 midterms, echoes other cases of autonomous agents disclosed by Anthropic in October, including attempts to bypass access restrictions.
