Tesla and SpaceX discuss potential $3.5T merger, no formal deal yet

Elon Musk has confirmed that Tesla and SpaceX are discussing a potential merger that could create a combined entity valued at approximately $3.5 trillion. Both companies have formed special committees to explore the possibility, but no formal agreement has been reached. Musk is currently excluded from these committees because of his conflict of interest, and any merger would require majority approval from Tesla’s shareholders. Market expectations for an official announcement by year-end have fallen, with the probability dropping from 29% to 12.5%, while the odds of an announcement on January 1, 2028 are priced at 62.5%.
