Mastercard praised Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin at the XRPL Commons hackathon in New York, according to community member Lost Art. The 36-hour hackathon offers more than $40,000 in prizes and brings together developers around four tracks, including autonomous payments and artificial intelligence agents. Projects could use XRP or RLUSD to make payments without human intervention at each stage of the transaction cycle. The event precedes Ripple Swell 2026 and reflects a growing partnership between Mastercard and Ripple, which are also studying card-transaction settlement based on RLUSD. In June 2026, Mastercard announced plans to launch settlement options involving several regulated stablecoins, including RLUSD, USDC, PYUSD, USDG, USDP and SoFiUSD.
